Britons are set to enjoy a brief Indian Summer this week, with temperatures set to rise to 29C by Thursday.
Experts warned of muggy conditions as they revealed the warmer weather will begin to spread across the country from Tuesday, bringing near-record temperatures.
The change is being brought about as hot tropical air is pushed towards the UK following ex-Hurricane Gaston. One forecaster at MeteoGroup said temperatures will peak on Thursday – but it won’t be hot enough to tip the mercury over the 30C mark.
“It is going to turn quite warm next week, especially Wednesday and Thursday,” he said. “Temperatures will reach 28C or 29C. It is not too unusual for early September but it will still be very warm.
