Where have all the butterflies gone?

Locally a poor year to, though not bad early spring and late summer. 2013, with the late cold winter, they fared well. Here’s hoping for a cold British winter again.

Today the results from Butterfly Conservation’s annual Big Butterfly Countreveals that this was the poorest summer for common garden butterflies since the Count began in 2010.

The National Trust’s butterfly expert, Matthew Oates comments on the report findings.
